About Me

Hi! I’m Macie – born and raised in California. I stay active by doing things I enjoy. I eat eggs and avocado toast or overnight oats for breakfast. Also enjoy the occasional cabernet or pinot noir with dinner. I love theme parks, trying out new food and traveling. I love seeing different cultures and experiencing the vibe of different cities.

My father left the US Navy when I was 5 years old and found a job in the airline industry where he worked for over 25 years. This gave my mother, my sisters and I the opportunity to visit many states across the US. We had so many options for family vacations! When I reached college, we expanded our horizons and started traveling around the world. Thanksgivings were in Seoul, Osaka, and Taipei…summer vacations in Rome, Florence and Tokyo.

Eventually, my college sweetheart (now my husband) became part of the action, tagging along with my family to vacations in Japan. After we got married, we started traveling together, finding amazing places for urbanites to hang out.

Traveling has opened my eyes to the world around me and I’ve learned to savor these precious moments. I’ve taken that appreciation and applied it to everywhere I go – a new restaurant in my hometown or a festival 45 minutes away.

I wanted to share my love of activities/places I’ve visited with you, to inspire you to find joy with your loved ones – regardless if you’re going away for the weekend or taking a drive 5 zip codes west of your hometown. So you may find some spots local to my hometown in Southern California. For me, it’s all about being present and enjoying life. When you get the chance to visit Southern California, you’ll have plenty to do – there is not a BAD time of the year to ever visit.

I’m also going to include my experiences at hotels and airports – all part of the journey as well. I’ve spent a lot of time at airports waiting for flights – to the point some were extra homes. Growing up, as we became familiar with waiting at airports, my sisters and I would find some nook 5 gates away to play dolls or action figures. Airports became our playgrounds.

I hope to entertain and inform you about the places I’ve visited…as well as keep adding to the list. I appreciate you stopping by.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you’re interested in collaborating. You can reach me at hello @ happylandings.blog.

Cheers to more happy landings!
